"I want certain people in our organization to have access to TGReports, but I don't want them to have access to any course, test or question bank content. I just want them to be able to access reports for courses that I assign them to. Can this be done?"
Answer: Yes.
The Tier1 or Tier2 administrator roles (TA) can create Trainer (TR) user profiles.
You'll find a more detailed review here: Creating Trainer User Profiles
In your Test Generator installation, the TA may have gone under System > Settings and assigned a different label to the TR user-type--for example, Instructor or Teacher. It doesn't matter what you label it, the "role" is the same..
Step 1: Log in to TG as a Tier1 or 2 TA and create Trainer profiles for any manager who will be accessing TGReports.
Best practice: We recommend that the TA provide the TR with an orientation to TGReports. Option: schedule an online training session.
Be sure to include login credentials.
Note: User IDs are unique, but not case-sensitive and Passwords are case-sensitive but not unique.
Share these credentials with the TR, but don't have them log in until Step 2 has been completed.
The TA always has the option of:
Don't enable (check) any settings under the Permissions tab.
Next, select the Enrollment tab and click the Add button...
... which will display an "Open Test/Survey" window, below. Highlight the course that you want to enroll the TR in and click the "OK" button.
Repeat this step for any other courses that you want the TR to be able to view in TGReports.
Note: the course that you selected will appear in the table under the TR's enrollment tab.
We recommend adding a journal entry under the Notes tab to include a creation date and password hint.
Note: the TA can re-set the TR's credentials at any time.
When you've finished, click the "Save" button to exit the TR profile window.
Step 2: On the TR's computer, install the TG admin client. This should be done by an IT person who has admin rights to the computer.
They will also need the db connection parameters in order to point the TG admin client to your TG system's database.
Once installed, log in to the TG admin client using your TA credentials to confirm that TG was properly installed and is pointing to your testing system's db.
Exit TG and open the Test Generator program directory. Locate the "TestGen.exe" and "STestGen.exe" files and hide, delete or rename them.
Next, under the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs locate and delete the "Test Generator" directory or remove the "Test Generator" and "Tester" shortcuts from the directory. Note: your IT person may choose to limit the TR's access using other methods.
Navigate to the Test Generator directory (c:\program files (x86)\test generator) > locate the TGReports.exe file > select it > then right-click > "Pin to taskbar" or "Pin to Start". This will create a TGReports shortcut on the TR's computer taskbar or Start menu.
Once these steps have been completed, have the TR click on whichever TGReports shortcut you created. The TR enters their credentials on the login page, clicks the Login button, which then opens to the TGReports home page.
Expanding any of the reports will display the courses the TR is eligible to view, print or export. Learn more.
