The Tier1 and Tier2 administrator roles (TA) can create Trainer (TR) user profiles.
The TR is one level below the TA user type. They are created and managed by TAs.
Best practice: We recommend that the TA provide the TR with an orientation to TGReports. Option: schedule an online training session.
In your Test Generator installation, the TA may have named this role "Instructor", "Teacher", "Proctor" or something else.
It doesn't matter what you call it, the "role" is the same.
The TA can create and assign a TR to serve various roles. TAs can:
Once enrolled, the TR can open, view, edit, print or export any test under any course they are enrolled in. They can also add, enroll, un-enroll or delete test takers at a test or course level. Best practice: We highly recommend that the TR receive adequate training before enrolling them in a course.
Once enrolled, the TR can open view, edit, print or export question bank content under any qbank they are enrolled in. Note: They would also have access to any sub-banks organized under the root bank.
Under this use-case, the TR assists the test taker in completing the login process for tests requiring a dual login.
The proctor--or the test taker--logs in to the Tester and selects a dual login-enabled test.
After the test taker selects the test, a second login appears. The proctor enters their credentials to complete the login process.
When and how the proctor vets the test taker is subject to your own policies and procedures.
Note: The Tier1 TA can assign the proctor role to any TR or Tier2 TA, or to any "non-TG" user. An example of a "non-TG" user might be a field supervisor or management-level person entrusted to serve as a proctor. This person could be on-site or in another country.
Caution: Before the Tier1 TA assigns any TR to manage a course or question bank, they need to emphasize that modifying/editing tests that have already been published may cause data corruption. We do not advise enrolling anyone as a Trainer who has not been trained and who has not review the best practices guidelines.
Under this use-case, someone in the organization--TA, HR manager, other--decides to allow one or more employees or contractors to work from some off-site location such as home or another office in another city, state or country. This individual would best be described as a subject matter expert or test author. They would not be connected to the organization's TG Web database, but any content they create using TG Desktop could be imported back into the TG Web account db.
"I want certain people in our organization to have access to TGReports, but I don't want them to have access to any course, test or question bank content. I just want them to be able to access reports for courses that I assign them to. Can this be done?"
