TG Toolbox: Staggered Retakes

Test Generator's Retakes features includes a separate set of parameters called Staggered Retakes. If you haven't already reviewed the Retakes page, we recommend doing so, first. This is yet another feature in the test author's toolbox which can be used to produce everything from the simple to the complex in test design.

Staggered Retakes, along with the other features described on the Retakes page will enable you to define a testing policy and/or expand on the retake policies that you are currently using.  Assuming you have Test Generator installed on your computer, we encourage you to build on the basics and experiment or contact us to schedule an online consultation session.

Staggered Retakes

Resume Retakes at Midnight

Scenario_1: The t.author enables Limit Retakes to 1, allowing for the first attempt plus one retake.

Day 1, 9 AM: the t.taker logs in to the Tester, takes the assigned test, clicks the Finished button to submit their test for grading. If they were to log back in to retake the test, the test would not be available.

Day 2, 12:00 AM: the retake is now available, in theory the t.taker could log back in to the Tester and retake their test beginning any time after midnight.  In our scenario, the t.taker starts their work day at 9 AM. At any time during the day they could log back in to Tester and retake the test.

Setting Wait States

staggered-retakes_5-7-daysScenario_2: The t.author enables Limit Retakes to 1, allowing for the first attempt plus one retake. Next, they set their After attempt # parameters.  In the example above, the t.author has set the Score % >= parameter to 0, meaning that anyone scoring less than the Pass percentage would be eligible to retake the test. The Wait period has been set to "7" days.  Options include minutes, hours, days and months.

Uses: Satisfy retake testing policies required by HR departments across a range of industries.

Note: these are but a few of the available retake options, Please contact us if you'd like to discuss this feature or any of TG's 125+ features.

Create Multiple Wait States

staggered-retakes_7-2-wait-statesScenario_3: The t.author sets the test's P/F to 80%. Retakes Allowed: 2 and --Only When...the test is not passed.

Attempt 1: If the t.taker passes the test on the first attempt they wouldn't see it again.

Attempt 2: If they fail the test a second time, but score >= 60%, the t.author has set a wait period of  30 days. If the t.taker completed their test at 2 PM, they would be eligible to retake the test 30 days later, an time beginning at 2 PM, or any time or day following their eligibility date.

If they failed  retake 2, but scored >= 75%, they would be eligible retake the test 7 days after their second attempt. If they failed retake 2 and scored < 75%, they would not be eligible to retake the test a third time.
