Product

Q: What is Test Generator (TG)?
A:TG is software used to measure, assess, evaluate or test your test-taking audience.

TG’s three modules: test creation (TG), test delivery (Tester) and reports (TG Reports) provide the features, flexibility and ease-of-use necessary to manage an effective testing program.

TG Options

Q: Are there any TG add-ons/plug-ins for TG_D?

Pricing

Q: What is the cost of TG_D and is that information available on your web site?
A: Cost: $499 which includes a year's support subscription and one hour of online training. Training sessions are recorded and playback and download links are provided.

Purchasing

Q:  Can I place my order over the phone?
A: Yes. Please call 928.380.6570 (Arizona). We accept checks and credit card orders (Visa, MC). Purchase orders accepted for purchase quantities of two or more. Net 15 days. Payments not received within 30 days, are subject to a late fee.

Support

Q: What does support include?
A: Expedited email, phone and online support + free 2.4.## updates. Support hours are Monday thru Friday, 8am to 6pm Eastern except weekends and federal holidays.

Support Subscription

Q: How long is my support subscription active? Can I renew it and, if so, what is the cost of the renewal?
A: Your support subscription is active for 12 months from the time of purchase.  Renewing your support subscription is optional but highly recommended because of the level of support provided. Cost: $199/yr. If you do not wish to purchase a support subscription, you are eligible for email support.

Versions

Q: How often do you publish new releases and how do I find out about them?
A: We do not have a set schedule for publishing new releases, but – on average – we publish a new release of TG2.4.# every 6 to 8  weeks. Releases may include new features, feature enhancements and/or bug fixes. Upgrading to a new release is not mandatory. New-release announcements are published in our newsletter, email blasts or through individual customer follow-ups (phone or email).

Upgrading

Q: If I purchase TG_D now, will I be able to upgrade to TG LAN or TG Web in the future? Also, will I be able to migrate my tests/test data as part of the upgrade?
A: Yes. You can upgrade from TG_D to TG LAN or Web to include your existing tests/test data. Upgrade costs will vary based on which product you wish to purchase. Please contact us for a quote.

Documentation/Help

Q: Do you have a printed instruction manual?
A: No. However, TG Help is included with your installation as well as various instructional materials to include PDF, PowerPoint and Flash tutorials. In addition, all TG_D purchases include a one-hour online training credit. Online training sessions are recorded and playback and download links are provided.

Tests

Q: Does the purchased product include an assortment of tests, or can tests be purchased?
A:No. TG_D is designed for customers who already have their own test content that they wish to enter into TG_D’s database. Test content can be typed in to the program or imported from a TG_D-friendly .csv, .txt, .xls, .rtf, or .xml file.  For more details, please review the tutorial below or contact us for more details. http://www.testshop.com/tg-import ...

Printing

Q: I don't plan on giving tests on the computer. Will TG allow me to print tests?
A: Yes, TG gives you the option of printing tests as well as saving out an RTF file that you can open/edit in MS Word, or other word processor. Taking Tests

Q: Can my test-taking audience take tests on my computer?
A: Yes. Included with your installation of TG_D, is a windows-based Tester application. Tester is a separate application for taking tests. You'll find a TG Basics tutorial here: http://www.testshop.com/Portals/95240/tutorials/tg_the-basics.pdf

System Requirements

Q: Where can I find technical information?

Database

Q: I understand that TG_D uses an MS Access database to store tests and test data -- do I need MS Access installed on my computer in order to use TG?
A: TG_D uses an MS Access database; however, it is a runtime version and MS Access is not required. Note: We strongly recommend that you not use MS Access to open TG’s database --you run the risk of damaging TG’s database and voiding your product license.

Installation

Q: How many machines can I install TG on?
A: One desktop and one portable (laptop) computer Note: You must have admin rights in order to install TG on your computer. If you are uncertain as to whether or not you have admin rights, please contact your IT department or technical support person. If you are installing TG on your personal computer you  most likely have admin rights.

Application

Q:What language is TG_D written it? 
A:The TG administrative client is written in Visual Basic v6.0. TG Reports is also a VB application which includes a run-time version of Crystal Reports. Some reports are generated as RTF files which can be exported and used with any word processor.

Customization

Q: Is there an API available.
A: We can provide a data map and data schema. Customers can use this information to generate sql queries against the data, export test data for importing into another application, etc. If you have some specific API requirements, please email support@testshop.com.
